L'Oreal Stage at CES Keynote

The Future of Beauty is Tech 💄🌐✹

CES 2024 celebrated its one-hundred-year anniversary with the first-ever beauty keynote. Nicolas HIERONIMUS, CEO of the L'Oréal group, took the stage to discuss the growing importance of beauty in the tech space. Beauty is, after all, a universal language connecting us with all civilizations throughout history.

Beauty is more than a personal pursuit - it's a collective experience, Hieronimus pointed out. Whether conforming to beauty norms to show our belonging or breaking free from them to showcase a different facet of our identity, beauty shapes our individual and shared narratives.

L'Oréal showcased a future where beauty seamlessly integrates with technology. The company introduced innovative products blending artificial intelligence, deep tech, and beauty. Including HAPTA, an award-winning ultra-precise computerized lipstick applicator designed for people with limited mobility.

L’OrĂ©al emphasized just how important collaboration with startups is to their growth into the beauty tech segment. For instance, they recently acquired Gjosa SA, a startup committed to reducing water waste through innovative designs. L’OrĂ©al aims to introduce Gjosa’s state-of-the-art water-saving showerhead in salons throughout the world. The future of beauty tech is also environmentally friendly.

Understanding consumers and delivering inclusive experiences at scale were key focal points for L’Oreal. Technology plays a pivotal role in realizing everyone’s unique beauty aspirations, exemplified by L’OrĂ©al’s commitment to #BeautyForEach.

Looking ahead, L’OrĂ©al sees tech and innovation as the future of beauty. In the future, beauty tech will not only keep pace with the latest STEM advancements but will actively shape the trajectory of technology itself.

Special thanks to the McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship, Investissement Québec, and Mitacs for giving us the opportunity to attend CES 2024.
